Miss Representation Screening - May 10

Impactful...Admirable...provocative...startling...life changing

Join us May 10 for the screening of the documentary Miss Representation, directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. This 2011 Sundance Film Festival and Oprah Winfrey Network Documentary Club Selection explores how the media’s misrepresentations of women have led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence.

At the screening, a gathering of different ages, generations, experiences, and perceptions come together for a lively and interactive dicussion. Hear from area youth and thought leaders on appearance, behavior, stereotypes, and the influence of the media today. You don't want to miss the chance to participate and share your thoughts. The evening includes a lively panel and discussion before and after the film, moderated by WDIV's Paula Tutman.

Women and MEN will have a greater awareness of the messages we all receive every day about women and how those messages limit opportunities for women and girls in subtle and not so subtle ways. We won't be surprised if a greater understanding motivates you to take action on a personal level after seeing the film. It has had that effect on audiences around the country.
