large-scale mosaic for new YWCA facility
The YWCA of Western Wayne County partnered with Project S.N.A.P. to create a large-scale mosaic for permanent displayed in the lobby of the new YWCA facility on Michigan Ave. in Inkster. It is comprised of more than 2,000 drawings contributed by community children and adults and assembled into a beautiful work of art with a message.
The project was launched in December 2010 at the Women of Achievement Luncheon and attendees contributed the first drawings, expressing what the YWCA-WWC is all about, “Helping Women and their families achieve their dreams – Imagine the possibilities!”
The mosaic will be unveiled at this year's event and a video highlighting this unique project will be shown. Attendees will have the opportunity to view the mosaic up close and find their drawing. Participants will also be able to go online and locate their picture using an interactive website - http://www.projectsnap.org/ywca.
The YWCA is grateful for Project S.N.A.P.'s coordination and DTE Energy's generous sponsorship of the Mosaic. Posters and note cards of the Mosaic are available for purchase. Call Marlyne Musleh at the YWCA, 313-561-4110 x 1 or mmusleh@ywca-wwc.org.
